Bicycle Tours On The Appian Way In Rome

Rome can be sometimes hard for bikers because it was built on seven hills so the ups and downs are something you will have to get used to.

On the other hand the Appian Way (Via Appia Antica) might be a bit bumpy as you bounce over the giant cobblestones, but there are no big ups and downs and for this reason bicycle tours are a daily activity here that give you the chance to taste this Roman countryside and its amazing ruins.

Sunday is the best day to visit the Appian Way because it’s closed to traffic and you’re free to stroll the ancient road in peace.

The earlier you start this day the better.

At Via Appia Antica 58/60 you will stop by the tourist information office to grab a map and rent a bike (3€ per hour for the first 3 hours or 10€ per day).

Another chance to rent bikes is at Via Appia Antica 175, at a coffee bar.

There is also the possibility of booking a 2 hour guided tours for 8€ that usually is organized on fixed days and starts at 10:00am.
