BB King On Tour in Rome at the Auditorium Parco della Musica
This year BB King turned 85 but he is still travelling the world with “Lucille” his Gibson guitar. Born in Mississippi, BB King has been a blues icon since the 1950s influencing a whole generation of bluesmen worldwide.
14 times Grammy Awards winner, Mr Riley King spent his childhood living with his mother and grandmother until he discovered his talent as a guitar player.
He began singing in church and then moved to Memphis where his cousin, musician Bukka White, introduced him to the world of blues.
He started working as a DJ for a Memphis radio station going by the name of The Blues Boy from Beale Street, or just Blues Boy (B.B.) King.
In 1949 he started recording his own songs and in 1951 the release of Three O’Clock Blues brought him to the top of the charts for 17 weeks. The rest is history.
On the 13th June at 9pm BB King will be at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. Tickets from €40 to €120. www.auditorium.com
